Crown reduction
A pruning method of reducing the height and spread of the crown, select branches are shortened to suitable growth points. Crown reductions are a common solution where a tree might have grown too big for its surroundings, competing for space and light and to decrease wind resistance.
-
Crown thin
The operation of removing select internal branches and limbs to reduce the density of the crown without compromising the shape or extent of the crown. Common reasons for thinning are to let light penetrate through the canopy, reduce weight and reduce wind resistance.
-
Crown lift
The process of removing lower limbs and branches from the bottom of the crown, often to allow the clearance of vehicles and to increase light to the ground for flower beds and lawns etc.
-
Crown reshape
A similar process to crown reductions, however, with the ultimate aim of reshaping / rebalancing the crown by pruning carefully selected branches.
-
Crown clean / deadwood
The removal of dead, dying and diseased branches which could be dangerous to life or property along with the removal of limbs and branches which could prove defective in the future.
-
Pollarding
The process of removing all growth to a specific height and shape, leaving just the framework and structure for future growth. Pollarding should be completed as part of a maintenance schedule and if performed incorrectly can be detrimental to the health of the tree.
-
Fell
The removal of the tree, cut from the ground without the need to work at height.
-
Sectional fell / dismantle
The removal of the entire tree to ground level through the process of dismantling the tree in smaller sections, whether through the use of freefall techniques, technical rigging equipment or cranes. This process is used to remove trees that lack the space to be felled from the ground.
-
Planting
We are more than happy to advise you on the species which is right for you and your space. Not all trees thrive, so we do everything possible to give them the best chance to survive, starting by testing the soil texture and pH, providing tree stakes and predator defences, followed with an aftercare guide.
-
Hedge services and maintenance
Whether it is a routine trim or getting them back under control after years of neglect. Hedges, bushes and shrubs can improve a garden or landscape. They can be use to provide a good visual and sound barrier.
-
Stump grinding
Stump grinding can be an effective solution to removing unwanted stumps and roots, because of their manoeuvrability and being able to fit through most garden gates.
-
TPO / conservation area applications
The completion of applications for tree work to the Local Planning Authorities on your behalf, saving you time and stress. We are experienced with the planning system and know what information is needed for your application.

To minimize undesirable effects of pruning these factors will be considered during the quoting process; timing, size of cuts, tree species and condition, environmental factors and the age of the tree.
